The Beyond Red and White Poppies photographic series features the red crocheted poppy banners displayed annually on Anzac Day and Remembrance Day at the Brighton jetty in Adelaide, South Australia.
These images are from my original iPhone photographs of the poppy banners. Whereupon I printed these images and, with these printouts, I quickly re-photographed them, thus creating an abstract effect. My recent research is in the fields of conflict, the aftermath and peace. This work metaphorically stands for the notion that, beyond the need to make and display red poppies and white poppies, there is another spiritual infinite space that symbolises peace and hope, and where the red and white poppy symbols now reside in the past.
